Lake Stella Mountain Huts & Hikers Haven

Stay on the mountain on Mt Lyford's only on mountain accommodation in the heart of Mt Lyford Adventure Park.

This is a truly unique adventure in the mountains sleeping close to the stars and above the clouds.

When staying at Lake Stella you are situated in the old ski basin so you have your own hiking basin in the winter with your very own tree run which is just above the huts. The Ski Resort is also only 5 mins drive around the corner and we can offer discounted lift passes for mid week not including school holidays. We also offer ice skating on the lake when conditions are right and on our backyard ice skate rink in the old ski field car park. Snow shoe hire is also available.

In the summer you can hike, bike or drive to the Lake and accommodation through the beautiful native bush and up the ski area road. You can climb three mountains from here or go out the back where the Ski Resort is and bike the ski trails and road including Fragglerock MTB track and Tinline track which takes you to the base of Mt Tinline and the Tinline Tarns with 6 waterfalls and cascades to discover plus Simpson stream and Tinline Creek with stunning views of the Clarence River from one way and the mighty Waiau River from the other. Keep your eye out for our native Falcon & Kea and have chance encounters with other alpine animals.

The main hut "Stella Hut" which was built in the late 80's has shared cooking and toilet facilities a dining and bar area and a sleeping loft. The four huts also uses these facilities but offer a private area with couch, queen size bed, wood fired hot tub & little cracker wood burner. It is a bit like glamping in a mountain environment in beautifully built insulated cabins.
